YEREVAN-TOURINFO- On September 14, 2019 Ujan hosed Official Opening Ceremony of 5th Apricot Tree Ujan International Film Festival in the Ujan Village Freedom Fighters Memorial Square followed by the screening of “The Last Day” in memory of filmmaker Alexander Rastorguev.

Russian director Alexander Rastorguev manages to capture unique and emotionally charged footage, primarily focusing on Ashot, Nikol’s son, as he leads us through this last decisive day, barricading streets and pondering about the state of things.

This is an exceptional intellectual festival that educates the community on all sorts of foods, drinks and far-flung cinematic thinking and believes in their own abilities with a great urge and dreams to keep community residents and children away from community worries for several days … developing inbound tourism, presenting the world with the rich material and intangible cultural heritage of Ujan.

The competition program this year includes 21 documentaries from all around the world – France, Russia, Germany, Iran etc., both short and feature-length. The colorful program not only has ethnographic films, depicting the heartbeats of various communities on the planet, but also stylish and more experimental documentaries, combining feature and animated elements and trying to expand upon traditional means of cinematic expression. Participant filmmakers have the opportunity to present their films and communicate with each other and with the host totally in a local ethnic environment.

Parallel to the events in Ujan all festival films are also screened in Yerevan’s Moscow Cinema. Closing ceremony will be held on September 19 in Ujan, where awards will be announced, and then on September 20th in Yerevan with the screening of award winner’s films in Moscow Cinema.
