TOURINFO- December 23, 2023 –Armenia has been selected to host the 2024 UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism, as announced by Sisian Boghossian, the Head of the Tourism Committee of Armenia. With a rich winemaking history, Armenia aims to highlight its expertise and collaborate on emerging trends in wine tourism during the conference.

The 7th edition of the UNWTO conference in La Rioja, Spain, highlighted key challenges and opportunities in the wine tourism sector. Discussions focused on inclusivity, sustainability, skills development, and the impact of climate change. Participants emphasized the importance of digitalization, innovative strategies, and Artificial Intelligence for enhancing wine tourism experiences. Armenia, eager to share its passion, will offer unique experiences to conference attendees, including a visit to the world’s oldest winery, the Areni-1 cave. The conference, expected to draw global wine enthusiasts and professionals, is set to be a milestone for the industry.
During the closing ceremony, La Rioja handed over the symbolic amphora to Armenia, marking the country as the host for the 8th UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism in 2024. Armenia looks forward to contributing to the global dialogue on wine tourism, promoting inclusive growth, and displaying sustainable practices in the industry.
