YEREVAN-AUGUST 2019-TOURINFO-The National Statistical Committee of Armenia says the country hosted 770,055 tourists over a period between January and June 2019 accounting for a 12.3 percent year-on-year growth.
According to the statistical report, 684,808 Armenian tourists went out of the country at the mentioned period.
Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said that the number of tourist visits from Russia has grown significantly about 20%, and this shows the growing interest of Russian tourists in Armenia.
The National Statistical Committee says 1,651,782 people traveled to Armenia in 2018, 10.5% more than in 2017.
According to statistical reports for the first nine months of this year, 7.2% of all the 1,275,209 visitors of the mentioned period were Iranian citizens.
The economy ministry’s figures show that Armenia hosted 719,531 travelers from other countries in Jan-March 2019 accounting for a 5.2% year-on-year growth, and 364,489 of them were tourists – a 5.2% year-on-year growth.
