YEREVAN-TOURINFO-Armenia has improved ranking in Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report and is placed 79th (up from 85th in 2017) in the 2019 edition released by the World Economic Forum.
The analysis presented in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019 is based on a methodology integrating the latest statistics from international organizations and a survey of executives.
For over a decade the World Economic Forum engaged leaders in travel and tourism to carry out an in-depth analysis of the travel and tourism (T&T) competitiveness. Published biennially, Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report and Index benchmarks the T&T competitiveness of 140 economies and measures the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable development of the Travel & Tourism (T&T) sector, which in turn, contributes to the development and competitiveness of a country.

The index has been developed in the context of the World Economic Forum’s Industry Program for Aviation, Travel and Tourism, as part of the Platform for Shaping the Future of Mobility. It is undertaken in close collaboration with our data partners Bloom Consulting, STR Global, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).


Benchmarking T&T Competitiveness
The report provides a strategic benchmarking tool for business and governments to develop the T&T sector. By allowing cross-country comparison and benchmarking countries’ progress on the drivers of T&T competitiveness, it informs policies and investment decisions related to T&T business and industry development. The report provides unique insight into the strengths and areas for development of each country to enhance its industry competitiveness, and a platform for multistakeholder dialogue at the country-level to formulate appropriate policies and actions.
It is comprised of four sub indexes, 14 pillars and 90 individual indicators, distributed among the different pillars.
