YEREVAN-TOURINFO- On October 19 Yerevan is going to celebrate it’s 2801 anniversary. The history of Yerevan (a city older than Rome) dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by king Argishti I at the western extreme of the Ararat plain.

The main events of “Erebuni – Yerevan 2801” will kick off on the evening of October 19, 2019. There is no concrete location for the event as the whole city will celebrate this important anniversary. All the residents, tourists and visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy live music, dance performances, and other cultural activities.

The Yerevan Municipality said in a press release: “We have considered several variants slogan for this event and eventually have chosen “Yerevan in my heart” as each resident of Yerevan keeps it in their hearts. “Follow the sun, come to Yerevan!” the celebration will become unforgettable due to the music of composer Tigran Mansuryan.
On October 19 the festivities start from 1pm. The official part of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2801” celebration and the gala-concert are to be held at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan in participation of the National Academic Choir of Armenia and the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia.
The main events of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2801” celebration start in the evening of October 19. From 19:00 to 22:00 music of various styles and genres will be heard in all Yerevan’s administrative districts.
At 22:00 the festive fireworks will light up the night sky of Yerevan from all districts”.
