Armenpress: With the commitment to preserve the traditions of Armenian hospitality, “Yermian Projects” continues its series of actions aimed at increasing the awareness of Armenian cuisine, and this time it is dedicated to Armenian lavash. It was for this purpose that the “Armenian bread in photo stories” exhibition was held in the “Lavash” restaurant in Yerevan.
It turns out that Armenian lavash has types, features and names. For example, the first lavash that is cooked after the toaster is heated is called hot hot lavash, beautiful flower lavash is called… and… about 20 types.
Anahit Gurgian, the head of public relations department of “Yermian Projects” pointed out that this exhibition is currently held in the symbolic restaurant “Lavash”, and said: This exhibition will be permanent. “Yermian’s projects” will be displayed and exposed to the public on various occasions.
He said: We have also made postcards with the same pictures, which will always be in Lavash restaurant and we present them to our visitors. As mentioned, this show will not be physically in one place, but will be shown periodically on different occasions. Our goal was to expand the national value as much as possible. It will also be in the online domain. There is a trilingual translation to expand it further.
Lavash is one of the symbols of Armenia and has its own place in our national cuisine. Armenians discovered white bread made from wheat flour more than three thousand years ago.
Lavash is baked in the oven and each lavash that comes out of the oven has its own shape and form. Over the decades, bakers have given them unique names.
Actress Anahit Giragosian, one of the visitors, emphasized in a conversation with Armpress reporter that she appreciates such events very much, because this is an opportunity to once again show the national wealth to the world.
It should be noted that in 2014 Lavash was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.
