factor.am: The Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia jointly with the American University of Armenia implemented the “100 Archaeological Monuments of Armenia” program.
The purpose of this project is to document the cultural heritage of our country and use it in the scientific and educational process. This project aims to collect aerial images (drone and 3D photos) of 100 archaeological sites in Armenia and create a comprehensive online database that includes detailed scientific descriptions of the sites as well as aerial videos, animations, maps, photos. are historical works, designed.
This project was implemented in 2021 based on the memorandum signed between the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the American University of Armenia. This project is a continuation of the new archeology and ethnography project started by archaeologist and historian Professor Grigor Arshian. In the framework of this project, 100 ancient works of Armenia are presented as a huge wealth of historical heritage. Lesser known monuments were selected. Using advanced drone technology, images were obtained from nearly 100 sites to create a comprehensive online resource for public access.
These options include virtual reality options that allow viewers to get up close to historical objects and see them from virtually different perspectives. The database and online resources created as a result of the project can be used for many educational and academic purposes, as well as for organizing various collaborations, conferences, new tours, campaigns, photo and video exhibitions.
