“European Heritage Days” this year with the theme “Living Heritage” will be held in Armenia on August 26 and 27. This program is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Convention “On the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
During two days, more than 100 cultural organizations will host visitors under their roof, many cultural events will be held in line with the recommendations of the day. Armenian classical and folklore concerts, video screenings, literary-musical events, educational and interactive programs, meeting-discussions, lectures, master classes, etc. are held.
The conclusion of this program in the grounds of Zvartnots Cathedral is provided by the “Historical-Cultural Protection Service of Museums and Historical Environment” of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia. On August 27, a collaborative game-festival titled “Let’s play traditional games”, a theatrical performance of the Yerevan State Pantomime Theater – “Bazi” will be held. Entry is free.

It should be noted that “European Heritage Days” are held every year in 50 European countries that have joined the European Cultural Convention (1954). The idea of ​​implementing this project started in 1984 in France under the title “Open Day of Historical Monuments”.
The “European Heritage Days” program was officially approved by the Council of Europe in 1991. In 1999, the European Union also joined this project, and this project began to be implemented with the slogan “Common European Heritage”. More than 70,000 cultural events are organized annually across Europe to raise public awareness of European heritage, emphasize its uniqueness and diversity and the importance of its continued preservation.
