Red carpet, fringes, government commission, speeches, words of thanks. it is unlikely that Parajanov’s imagination would have drawn his anniversary like this, but this is how the jubilee event dedicated to the world-famous film director’s 100th birthday started today at the cinema house.

First, the minister of KGSMS and the head of the prime minister’s office walked the red carpet, cut the red ribbon, opening the first complete statue of the maestro in Yerevan.

“We are celebrating the maestro’s 100th anniversary with statesmen, friends and even enemies,” emphasized Harutyun Khachatryan, head of the Union of Cinematographers.

Ara Alekyan, the author of the statue, was watching the event from across the ocean. The sculptor creates the maestro for the second time from iron waste and details. This time already from head to toe. Zaven Sargsyan, the founder-director of the Parajanov Museum, dreamed about this statue, but did not see its opening.

The sculpture was opened, but it may be moved soon. Minister Zhanna Andreasyan suggested that the statue be placed in the Star Park to be created in front of the Cinema House, and the adjacent square be called “Pomegranate Color” Square.

And on the second floor of the Cinema House, Giocondas rule, first there are Parajanov’s collages of Mona Lisa brought from the museum, which Parajanov started in prison and finished in freedom.

Then the contemporary perception of the artist Davit Galstyan inspired by that series. new giocondas transformed with the help of artificial intelligence.

While sculpting Parajanov, the author was inspired by the photograph known as “the flight of the black crow” or “the shot of the century”.

Today, jubilee events are also held in Ukraine and Georgia.

“I am an Armenian who lived in Tbilisi, was imprisoned for Ukrainian nationalism,” said the maestro, who had bought a ticket for the eternal traveler a long time ago.
