Artistic director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, chief conductor Eduard Topchyan is doing the last rehearsals with the “Yerevan” Youth Symphony Orchestra. The first concert of the symphony orchestra will take place on February 12 in the concert hall named after Aram Khachatryan. Khachatryan’s “Masquerade” and Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished” symphony will be performed.

On the initiative of the Yerevan Municipality, the professional committee listened to about 300 children in 24 music and art schools of the capital for 2 months and selected 80. The teenagers are the youngest musicians of the symphony orchestra in Armenia, the youngest is 10 years old, there are also students of the Conservatory.

Most of them had no experience of working in this orchestra before. They say that the most difficult thing at the beginning was to understand the conductor, to listen to each other, but now they have already fallen into a rhythm.

Although the idea belongs to the municipality, Topchyan says that they have been waiting for something like this for a long time, and now this is a dream, a revival project.

The details are in the report of “Freedom”.
