TOURINFO-February 24, 2024-In a recent archaeological discovery, a medieval rock-cut tomb has been unearthed in the picturesque village of Ohanavan, nestled within the Kasakh Gorge of Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport swiftly reported the finding, highlighting the significance of this historical revelation.
The tomb was stumbled upon by a local resident during routine earthworks on his property, unveiling a hidden gem of Armenia’s rich cultural heritage. Prompt action was taken as the Aragatsotn regional service of the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reserves SNCO recorded the discovery and immediately halted further work to preserve the site’s integrity.
Recognizing the importance of such archaeological finds, discussions ensued regarding the transfer of these historical artifacts to state custody and the necessity for urgent excavations to unveil the secrets hidden within.
